Educators from Across Spain Gather in Seville for TESOL‑SPAIN 2026 Convention
18th March, 2026
The 49th Annual National Convention of TESOL‑SPAIN, one of the country’s premier gatherings for English language teaching professionals, concluded a vibrant three‑day programme at the Universidad Pablo de Olavide in Seville from 13–15 March 2026.
Under the evocative theme “Warmth, Colour and Wonder in the World of ELT”, the conference brought together hundreds of educators, teacher trainers, researchers, and publishing professionals to explore the humanistic and creative dimensions of English language teaching (ELT).
The theme reflected a commitment to recognising the emotional, cultural and intellectual richness inherent in ELT work. “Warmth” emphasised the deep relationships forged in classrooms and professional networks, while “Colour” highlighted the diversity of voices and experiences learners and teachers bring to language learning. “Wonder” celebrated curiosity and discovery as central to effective pedagogy.
Across the event, attendees engaged in a broad programme of workshops, presentations, round tables, and practical sessions. These focused on contemporary classroom challenges, innovative methodologies, digital literacies, and inclusive practices in language teaching. Delegates also had opportunities to explore the latest resources in the exhibition area and connect socially at an opening reception and Saturday evening dinner.
The convention was marked by a sense of professional enthusiasm and collaboration, and organisers shared that TESOL‑SPAIN Sevilla 2026 had been awarded the EVE Yellow Badge by Equal Voices in ELT, recognising its commitment to gender and language parity among speakers and participants.
Many sessions emphasised practical classroom applications, from integrating digital tools to supporting multilingual learners, with international and national presenters contributing to a rich dialogue about the future of ELT in Spain and beyond.
TESOL‑SPAIN’s annual convention is traditionally one of the most important professional development events on the calendar for English teachers in Spain, encompassing educators from primary through tertiary levels, teacher trainers, curriculum designers, and publishing professionals.
As the three days of presentations and networking drew to a close, participants noted the renewed energy and sense of community that such face‑to‑face forums continue to foster in an increasingly digital age. The success of the Seville event sets a promising tone for future gatherings that aim to support, inspire, and innovate in the field of English language teaching.
