Designed for Year 9, 10, and 11 students, a TEFL Experience Workshop provides an opportunity to discover what Teaching English as a Foreign Language is all about, and where a TEFL career can take you.

TEFL Experience Workshop
3 HOURS PER SESSION • £600 PER SESSION • UP TO 21 STUDENTS PER SESSION • RUN MULTIPLE SESSIONS PER DAY
Our TEFL Experience Workshop will allow students to get to grips with the foundations of TEFL. They’ll cover what TEFL is, the aspects of English they might have to teach, and where a career in TEFL might take them. It offers a great insight into whether TEFL might be something they’d like to explore further. Students will spend time practicing ice breakers, participating in a mock foreign language lesson, reviewing grammar and learning about the PPP model (presentation, practice, production) and how to use realia. They will spend some time discussing where a TEFL certificate can take them, and the steps that can help them get there.

Get to grips with the foundations of TEFL
Our TEFL Experience Workshops will allow students to get to grips with the foundations of TEFL. They’ll cover what TEFL is, the aspects of English they might have to teach, and where a career in TEFL might take them. It offers a great insight into whether TEFL might be something they’d like to explore further.

Take part in fun and engaging activities
Students will spend time practicing ice breakers, participating in a mock foreign language lesson, reviewing grammar and learning about the PPP model (presentation, practice, production) and how to use realia. They will also look at the benefits of TEFL, career options and tips for finding work abroad or online.

Thinking about Higher Education and Careers
Students can to discuss future career options with our knowledgeable trainers. They can spend some time discussing where a TEFL certificate can take them, and the steps that can help them get there. It’s also a great opportunity for students to start thinking about future education options, including A-Levels and Higher Education.
The details
Duration
Each session will run for approximately 3 hours. This includes the 4 activities, plus the careers discussion.
We are able to run two sessions on one day for larger student cohorts. We’d recommend no more than 21 students per session.
Cost
Experience Workshops are priced per session. Each session costs £600. We do not offer a per student price.
Once your Experience Workshop has been confirmed, we will send through an invoice to the school.

Ice Breakers
A crucial part of any EFL teaching, students will participate in a ice-breaker activity. A great way to get the group warmed up, but also for students to experience how an ice breaker should be conducted in an EFL environment.

Mock Foreign Language Lesson
Students participate in a mock foreign language lesson. It’s a great demonstration of how an EFL student might feel and can help students to sympathise. It’s also a gentle introduction into to teaching Functions and Vocabulary.

Reviewing Grammar & The PPP Model
The PPP (presentation, practice, production) model is demonstrated with a view of students gaining an awareness of the stages to then go on to analyse a PPP lesson. This offers great insight into how a real EFL lesson might go.

Using Realia
Realia and authentic materials are a key aspect of an engaging EFL lesson, and can be used to teach lots of different English Language areas. Students will work with some real examples of realia, and how each can effectively be used in a lesson.

A TEFL Career
Students have the opportunity to speak to our experienced TEFL trainers all about a career in TEFL. They can discuss what they can do with a certificate, and how they can get their. It’s a great time to start thinking about Higher Education and their future.
