Content Covered

  • Module 1: Introduction to TEFL

    Module 1 will be a gentle introduction to TEFL, looking at key words and language that you will need to know on your TEFL journey. You'll also look at parts of speech, as well as classroom teaching including how to engage your students and specifically how to create and use ice breakers.

  • Module 2: The Tense System

    Module 2 covers all things tenses. We’ll begin by looking closely at the Tense System, which can be quite a tricky concept for EFL students to get to grips with. We’ll cover how to teach the tenses, look at some key grammar basics, modal verbs and prepositions and dependent prepositions.

  • Module 3: The TEFL Classroom

    Module 3 will cover all aspects of the TEFL classroom. We'll look at learning styles, assessing learners, what makes a successful teacher, and the type of TEFL classrooms you might expect to teach in. We’ll then review some real lesson plans which you can then save and use in your own lessons.

  • Module 4: Functions & Vocabulary

    Module 4 will look at functional language and vocabulary. This includes discussing how you as an EFL teacher can teach idioms, synonyms, collocations, affixes, and phrasal verbs.
    These approaches can be brought into your lessons.

  • Module 5: Grammar

    Module 5 will look at how to teach grammar to EFL students. It includes understanding how we can use songs to consolidate language points, looks at conditionals and how to teach them, and gerunds and infinitives which can be difficult for students to understand. We’ll look at the active vs. passive voice.

  • Module 6: The Four Language Skills

    Module 6 will look at the four key language skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. We'll look at what's involved in each skill and how we can effectively teach these skills to our students. There are lots of activity ideas and lesson plans within this module to use in your own lessons.

  • Module 7: The IPA & Pronunciation

    Module 7 will take an in depth look at the International Phonetic Alphabet. We’ll look at how we can use the IPA to teach pronunciation, common IPA issues and teaching activities. We’ll look at word stress, intonation and question tags, sound and spelling and fast native speech.

  • Module 8: EFL Exams & Levels

    Module 8 is all things EFL exams and learner levels. There are a lot of different exams EFL students can take. We’ll also look at the most effective ways to teach each learner level: absolute and false beginners, elementary, pre-intermediate, intermediate, upper-intermediate, advanced and proficiency.

  • Module 9: Class Levels

    Module 9 is all about EFL classes. We’ll look at the most effective ways of teaching young learners, teenagers, and adults. We’ll look at TEFL summer schools and project work, and how one-to-one classes differ from group classes. We’ll then look at English for Specific and Academic purposes and academic writing.

  • There are mini quizzes and assessments throughout Module 1-9 of the course, which can be taken as many times as you wish. To progress through the course, you will need to achieve 75% on all quizzes and assessments.

    Module 10 includes a final assessment, and you will be given a set of questions to answer within the three-hour time limit given.

    All the questions are based on the content of the course. The course is designed to challenge you, but there are no trick questions, and the answers are all within the course. The final assessment can only be taken once, but if you do not pass you can buy an additional attempt for just £9.

    You will also be given a task to complete at the end of Module 1-9. Tasks are mandatory, but not graded. If you choose to purchase the Graded Assignment Course (either separately or with the 120 Hour and 150 Hour courses), the Graded Assignment section is marked.

    Please note: Tasks must be completed offline and uploaded via a desktop. Don’t worry if you don’t have the ability to do this, just let us know and we’ll be happy to upload your tasks for you.
