Module 1 will be a gentle introduction to TEFL, looking at key words and language that you will need to know on your TEFL journey. You'll also look at parts of speech, as well as classroom teaching including how to engage your students and specifically how to create and use ice breakers.

Module 2 covers all things tenses. We’ll begin by looking closely at the Tense System, which can be quite a tricky concept for EFL students to get to grips with. We’ll cover how to teach the tenses, look at some key grammar basics, modal verbs and prepositions and dependent prepositions.

Module 3 will cover all aspects of the TEFL classroom. We'll look at learning styles, assessing learners, what makes a successful teacher, and the type of TEFL classrooms you might expect to teach in. We’ll then review some real lesson plans which you can then save and use in your own lessons.

Module 4 will look at functional language and vocabulary. This includes discussing how you as an EFL teacher can teach idioms, synonyms, collocations, affixes, and phrasal verbs.
These approaches can be brought into your lessons.

Module 5 will look at how to teach grammar to EFL students. It includes understanding how we can use songs to consolidate language points, looks at conditionals and how to teach them, and gerunds and infinitives which can be difficult for students to understand. We’ll look at the active vs. passive voice.

Module 6 will look at the four key language skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. We'll look at what's involved in each skill and how we can effectively teach these skills to our students. There are lots of activity ideas and lesson plans within this module to use in your own lessons.

Module 7 will take an in depth look at the International Phonetic Alphabet. We’ll look at how we can use the IPA to teach pronunciation, common IPA issues and teaching activities. We’ll look at word stress, intonation and question tags, sound and spelling and fast native speech.

Module 8 is all things EFL exams and learner levels. There are a lot of different exams EFL students can take. We’ll also look at the most effective ways to teach each learner level: absolute and false beginners, elementary, pre-intermediate, intermediate, upper-intermediate, advanced and proficiency.

Module 9 is all about EFL classes. We’ll look at the most effective ways of teaching young learners, teenagers, and adults. We’ll look at TEFL summer schools and project work, and how one-to-one classes differ from group classes. We’ll then look at English for Specific and Academic purposes and academic writing.
