Teacher - Spain: Melilla

The British Centre of Melilla are looking for native level teachers to join their team to teach a mix of ages and levels.

 

Information

  • Melilla is a Spanish enclave on the North Coast of Africa, surrounded by Morocco. It is a beautiful autonomous city with a lot to offer. Travel to mainland Spain is easily accessible by plane or boat, and you can visit Morocco after crossing the border.

  • At the British Centre, they emphasize a fun, communicative approach to teaching English to children from the age of three, as well as teenagers and adults of all abilities. Their students work towards taking a Trinity GESE or ISE exam at the end of the year.

  • The contract is a fijo discontinuo. The contract starts in September.

  • The contract is for 34 hours per week. This is made up of contact-teaching hours and administrative hours.

Salary and Benefits

  • Teachers are paid 1675 gross per month, inclusive of any national or local holiday days.

  • Two weeks paid holidays at Christmas and Easter.

  • Taxes and social security are paid.

  • Unused holiday pay is paid at the end of the contract.

  • Airfare from Malaga to Melilla (reimbursed in first months salary).

  • Help with finding accommodation.

  • All required documents are sorted for you i.e. Spanish residency card for EU nationals, social security number, registering with a GP and opening a bank account.

  • Spanish classes can be arranged upon demand.

  • All of their teachers receive ongoing personal professional development, in addition to in-house training that is given throughout the contract.

  • Excellent professional development opportunities are offered through induction, and bimonthly training sessions and workshops. As a Trinity exam centre, training sessions on Trinity GESE and ISE exams are also given regularly.

  • They have excellent purpose built teaching facilities, plus each of their 15 classrooms are fully equipped with smart board technology.

Requirements

  • Native-level speaker with an EU passport or Spanish TIE or Spanish work visa.

  • Degree and recognized TEFL qualification. PGCE and QTS are also considered.

  • 1 year teaching experience of a wide range of levels and ages.

  • Knowledge of Trinity exams would be an advantage, but is not essential as full training is provided.
