Do I need to take the Standard Classroom Course as well as an online course?

We would recommend that you take the Standard Classroom Course as well as an online course, in order to get practical TEFL experience. The online course is a great way to acquire a more in depth understanding of TEFL, however it is also important to gain practical TEFL experience, as this is what many language schools will be looking for when employing their teachers.

What is the difference between the online courses and the classroom courses?

The online courses go into more detail and allow you to work at your own pace. The classroom courses are fast-paced and they give you the opportunity to put your teaching into practice. You will also get to meet fellow TEFLers! To get the full TEFL experience, it is a good idea to take both types of courses. This way you can acquire the theory from the online course and also the practical experience from the classroom course.

You will be provided with reference materials throughout the course, these include help sheets and tasks for you to complete. Although not essential, we would highly recommend purchasing our TEFL Starter Pack. This brilliant pack contains everything any new EFL student will need. Our well stocked shop has books on all aspects of TEFL teaching, so if there is any area you feel you need to brush up on, you will find plenty of books to help you.

Is there an exam?

There are mini quizzes and assessments in the first two parts of the course, as well as two homework tasks. The quizzes and assessments in these two parts can be repeated as many times as you wish. In the third and final part of the course, you will complete a final assessment, which can only be taken once. To pass the course, you must achieve 75% on every quiz and assessment.

What type of questions will I get asked?

Mini quizzes present you with 3-5 multiple choice questions to answer. Assessments give you a mix of multiple choice questions and questions that require you to type a key word or phrase into the box given. All questions are based on the content of the course.
