Daniel's TEFL Experience in Hungary

A UK-TEFL qualification opens up doors to teach and travel all over the world! Who doesn't like the sound of that? We love hearing back from our customers to find out where in the world their TEFL qualification has taken them. This week we're speaking to UK-TEFL graduate Daniel to find out what he has been doing since taking his UK-TEFL weekend course back in August 2015. He was offered a job through our TEFL Connections Service, within a few weeks of completing his course and is now living in Hungary and working as an EFL teacher.

How would you rate your course?

What drew you to taking a UK-TEFL course?

To be honest there are so many training providers around the country and didn't know one from another. But I'm so glad that I chose UK-TEFL because the tuition and support was outstanding. When I was offered the job and decided to take an Advanced course I had no hesitation in choosing UK-TEFL.

Tell us what you are doing now? Can you describe a typical day as an EFL teacher?

Well everyday is different, that is what is so great about it. I teach all sizes and all levels of students. During the school term I teach lessons at a primary school two days a week which is great fun. The main part of my job is private lessons at a language school in Hungary. I find it extremely rewarding seeing their level of English improve over time. It makes the time preparing the lesson worthwhile.

What is your favourite part of Teaching English as a Foreign Language?

Seeing my student's progression and when they get that light bulb moment when something they have been struggling with finally clicks! Also having a wide range of ages means that you get a real insight into each of your students' private lives.

Why did you choose your teaching location? What is your favourite thing about living there?

I chose Hungary because I didn't really know that much about the country and have never been to that region of Europe. I'm so happy I did because the people here are so friendly, there are some really beautiful cities here, not just Budapest, that I get to visit at the weekends. And the best thing of all - everything is so cheap!

What are your future plans?

I would continue my teaching either here in Hungary or another part of the world. Once you get yourself a qualification the world is your oyster.

What advice would you give to someone wanting to Teach English as a Foreign Language?

If you are thinking about it then don't - just do it! You get to meet some amazing people and experience some amazing adventures that will stay with you forever. The only mistake I made was not doing it sooner.
