There are multiple quizzes, homework tasks and activities for you to complete, in order to prepare you for the final assessment, which will test your newfound TEFL knowledge.

You don’t need any prior TEFL knowledge in order to take the course, as you will start with the basics; however the course is also popular with those who have taken a classroom course, but are looking to add additional training hours to their CV.

There are mini quizzes, countdown quizzes and assessments throughout Parts 1-9 of the course, which can be taken as many times as you wish. To progress in the course, you will need to achieve 75% on all quizzes and assessments. Part 10 includes a final assessment and you will be given a set of questions to answer within the three hour time limit given. All of the questions are based on the content of the course. The course is designed to challenge you, but there are no trick questions and the answers are all within the course. The final assessment can only be taken once, but if you do not pass you can buy an additional attempt for just £9.

You will also be given a homework task at the end of Parts 1-9 of the course, to complete and upload. Homework tasks are mandatory, but only graded if you choose to purchase the Graded Module (either separately or with the Standard and Advanced courses). Please note homework tasks must be completed offline and uploaded via a desktop. Don’t worry if you don’t have the ability to do this, just let us know and we’ll be happy to upload your tasks for you.

How long do I get to complete the course?

You will have 90 days to complete the course. However, if you have not completed the course after this time, you can purchase a 30 day extension for £19 from our shop.

How long does the course take?

The course equates to around 100 hours of training. However, the exact length of time it takes to complete varies from person to person. It depends on how much time you devote to it and how quickly you grasp the content.

Where can I access the course?

The course is compatible with laptops, computers, mobile phones and tablets. So you can learn at home or on the go! You can also download the Litmos LMS app for free and access the course from there. Please note homework tasks must be completed offline and require a desktop. However, don't worry if you don't have the ability to do this, just let us know and we'll be happy to upload your tasks for you.

When will I get access to the course?

You'll get access to the course from the moment you sign up, just check your inbox for an email from Litmos with your login details.

Please be aware that there might be some delays in accessing the course for the first time over the weekend and bank holidays.

Do I have to live in the UK to take this course?

The course is online and can be accessed from any laptop, computer, mobile phone and tablet, which means that you don't have to live in the UK to take the course.

Is there an age limit on who can enrol?

The course is aimed at anyone; therefore there are no age restrictions.

Are any particular qualifications required to enrol on the course?

You don't need any qualifications or teaching experience - as long as you can speak English fluently you can take this course.

Do I need to know grammar to take this course?

You don't need any knowledge of grammar prior to taking the course, as it is covered during the 100 hours. You can also take our online grammar course to improve your grammar skills further.

Do I need any books to take the course?

You don't need any books to take the course. The course does present you with recommended reading - including books and websites - which you may want to consider taking a look at.

Are there any materials to accompany the course?

You will be provided with reference materials throughout the course, these include help sheets and tasks for you to complete. Although not essential, we would highly recommend purchasing our TEFL Starter Pack. This brilliant pack contains everything any new EFL student will need. Our well stocked shop has books on all aspects of TEFL teaching, so if there is any area you feel you need to brush up on, you will find plenty of books to help you.

Is there an exam?

There are mini quizzes, countdown (timed) quizzes and assessments throughout the course for you to complete. These can be repeated as many times as you wish. Part 10 is includes a final assessment, which can only be taken once. To pass the course, you must achieve 75% on every quiz and assessment.

There are also homework tasks for Parts 1-9 of the course. You will be given an exercise to complete offline and upload. These are mandatory, but only graded if you choose to pay for the Graded Module.

What type of questions will I get asked?

Mini quizzes present you with 3-5 multiple choice questions to answer. Countdown quizzes test your ability by giving you a set of 5-10 multiple choice questions to answer in one minute. Assessments give you a mix of multiple choice questions and questions that require you to type a key word or phrase into the box given. All questions are based on the content of the course.

What happens if I fail the final assessment?

If you do not pass the final assessment, you can purchase one additional attempt for £9 from our shop.

Is UK-TEFL an accredited training provider?

Yes, UK-TEFL is a platinum Approved Training Qualifications UK (TQUK) Centre, which means all our courses are endorsed by TQUK. TQUK is a national awarding body and is regulated by Ofqual (The Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation).

Do I receive a certificate upon completion of the course?

You will automatically receive an electronic certificate upon course completion. You can also purchase a hard copy version or upgrade to a TQUK accredited certificate, which is great for making your CV stand out when you are applying for TEFL jobs. The certificate includes a course module statement and costs £30 (including UK P&P). Please note: If you live outside of the UK, you will be required to pay extra for overseas postage.

Is TEFL a recognised qualification?

A TEFL certificate is recognised worldwide and will qualify you to teach English as a foreign language abroad or privately in the UK.
