Trainers

Our trainers are handpicked from the large pool of EFL professionals in the UK today. Trainers must be qualified and experienced to the high UK-TEFL standard but must also be dynamic and approachable so you gain the maximum from your time in the UK-TEFL classroom.

All trainers are qualified to a CELTA (or equivalent) standard, as a minimum, and must have recent experience of teaching EFL in countries outside of the UK (in addition to having UK EFL teaching experience).
 

 

Ruthie Collins
TESOL

After graduating from University with a degree in English Literature, Ruthie achieved her TESOL in Barcelona. Since then, she has taught English extensively in a variety of settings, from language schools and summer programmes, to business English for international students. Ruthie is also a proficient copywriter and editor, working on a freelance basis for various organisations.
 

 

Gemma Davies
CELTA

Gemma achieved her CELTA qualification, and then gained considerable experience across Thailand and Taiwan, from voluntary projects and summer camps to IELTS preparation. She has taught a wide variety of ages and nationalities and is a keen traveller!
 

 

Danielle MundyTESOL, DELTA

Our Director of Studies Dani has extensive experience in TEFL, having gained both her TESOL and DELTA. She has taught throughout Spain, teaching everything from business English to conversational classes and young to advanced learners. More recently, Dani has taught in the Worcester area and has a flair for languages, as she speaks Spanish at an advanced level, and French at intermediate level.
 

 

Alex Herrington
CELTA

After gaining her CELTA in the UK, Alex travelled to Barcelona and built up over five years experience in a variety of settings, teaching adults and children and producing numerous teaching resources. She returned to the UK to take on a Director of Studies role in London, and she now teaches TEFL classes in London in addition to her UK-TEFL courses.
 

 

Emma Tudor
DELTA

Emma gained her TEFL experience in both China and Spain, working with children and adults along with invigilating exams. More recently, she has been involved in designing academic programmes in her Director of Studies role in the Manchester area. Emma is a keen sports player and has a PADI scuba diving licence.
 

 

Elisabeth McGlynn
Trinity Dip TESOL and PGCE

Liz has taught across Europe, training business professionals in-house for various organisations such as Deutsche Bank, and also teaching English and German.  She has been involved in developing language learning materials for schools and has worked in various teaching roles in the Cumbria area. Liz enjoys walking in the Lake District near her home, and travelling overseas too!
 

 

Naheen Madarbakus-Ring
TESOL

Naheen teaches UK-TEFL courses in the London area, and gained her teaching experience over several years spent in South Korea and Japan. Naheen has not only taught, but developed a range of teaching materials and text books to assist language learners. She began her career as a journalist and content editor before becoming an EFL teacher, and she is currently studying for a Trinity Diploma in TESOL with the hope of venturing overseas again in the future. 
 

 

Sonja Tack
CELTA, DELTA

After qualifying, Sonja spent time as an English instructor in Ankara and Istanbul, both teaching EFL and preparing students for Cambridge IELTS exams. More recently, she has been working as a lecturer and chief examiner, alongside gaining an MA in ELT and Applied Linguistics, and an MA in Translation Studies. She is currently learning German, and hopes to complete a PhD in the future.
 

 

Jenny Watters
CELTA, Trinity Dip TESOL

Jenny completed her CELTA in Belfast and took up her first teaching role in Poland. She went on to teach in Australia and Taiwan before returning to the UK and fulfilling her long term ambition of becoming a CELTA teacher trainer. 
 

 

Alicja Byrska
MA TESOL

Originally from Poland, Alicja gained her initial ELT qualification over there along with a BA in English, and a postgraduate qualification in Translation. She came to the UK to achieve an MA in TESOL at Liverpool University, and went on to build up her teaching experience through teaching and translation classes across the North of England. Alicja has an interest in languages, and speaks English and German in addition to her native Polish.
 

 

Mike Furber
MA TESOL, DELTA

Mike has been an EFL teacher for almost 17 years, and has taught in language schools throughout Spain, Italy and the Czech Republic. He has taught a wide variety of ages and levels, and now teaches and lectures in the Cambridge area. In the future, Mike hopes to travel to Japan, inspired by his MA research involving Japanese students.
 

 

Eljee Javier
TESOL, MA TESOL

Eljee has extensive experience in TEFL having worked teaching and lecturing in TEFL across China, Australia and more recently in the UK. She is currently studying for a PhD in Education in Manchester.
 

 

Diane Hoffman
CELTA

Diane achieved her CELTA qualification in Barcelona, and since then has taught a variety of ages in Spain, Italy and the UK. She can also speak Italian and Spanish at pre-intermediate level.
 

 

Tanya Al-Ameer
CTEFLA, DTEFLA, MEd ELT

Tanya achieved her CTEFLA and DTEFLA in London and Hong Kong, and then progressed on to achieve a MEd in English Language Teaching. She has gained experience across China, Turkey, Poland, the Middle East and the UK, and is now working towards a PhD at the University of Manchester.

 

Claire Samuel
CELTA

Claire became CELTA qualified in Scotland, and then built up experience as an EFL teacher in Edinburgh, before spending five years teaching in Italy. On returning to the UK, Claire continued her EFL teaching back in Edinburgh.

 

Dorothy Glenn
CELTA, MEd

Dorothy has a wide range of qualifications, from her BA in French and Italian, to a PhD in Italian literature and more recently her CELTA and MEd. She has taught extensively throughout Belfast and also has a PGCE in modern languages.

 

Sabrina Hendry
CELTA, DELTA

Sabrina graduated from university, before successfully completing her CELTA and heading overseas. She has taught is various locations including Portugal, Australia and Indonesia before returning to the UK to complete a DELTA and reprising her role as a Director of Studies for a college in Taunton.

 

Dan Pringle
TESOL, Trinity LTCL Diploma

After travelling and teaching privately in Brazil, Dan achieved his TESOL in Prague, and build up experience there, before moving on to Poland and Russia. He then returned to the UK to gain the Trinity LTCL Diploma and became a Director of Studies in the London area.

 

Amy Richardson
CELTA

Amy achieved her CELTA in 2007 and has taught in Australia and the UK.  She also has a BA in English Literature, has taught IELTS and is a keen traveller having spent time in Asia, Europe and South America.

 

Stewart Hamilton-Deans
CELTA

Stewart graduated with a BA in English Language before progressing onto a CELTA. He then taught overseas in South Korea and Hong Kong teaching IELTS and writing ELT learning materials and has now returned to the UK to continue his EFL teaching.

 

Pauline Sibbald
TEFL, Diploma in TEFL

Since gaining her TEFL qualifications, Pauline has taught EFL in the UK, Egypt and Portugal. She has 25 years experience in teaching and training, supervising a variety of learners from TEFL, CELTA and DELTA trainees to IELTS students.

 

Patricia Bartley
CELTA

Patricia has taught in Spain, working with a range of students including children and military teachers. She has worked closely with the British Council on various projects and gained a PGCE in modern languages (Spanish and French). More recently, Patricia managed a project in Ethiopia to improve the level of teacher training for school teachers.
