The first step for anyone wanting to apply for this position is to take a UK-TEFL 2 or 3 day course at one of our many locations throughout the UK.

The Underwater Centre, based in Fort William, Invernesshire, teaches students from all over the world in commercial diving. Classes tend to be mixed, with some native English speakers (from UK, USA, Canada etc.) and some students who speak English as a second language. There have been instances where courses have been held back as a result of the non native speakers struggling with diving terminology.

The Underwater Centre would like to run short courses (5-10 days), prior to students starting their diving courses, in ‘diving English’. This will involve teaching students the vocabulary of commercial diving. At present, they have students starting courses two or three times a month, so this could end up being, if not a permanent contract, a very regular contract.

Ideally, the Underwater Centre are looking for 1 or 2 UK-TEFL qualified teachers who have an interest in diving and live close by, however, we will be accepting applications from anyone with a UK-TEFL qualification.
