DESTINATION OF THE MONTH

 India

Happy Birthday Buddha!

Why not immerse yourself in the fascinating culture of India? Buddha’s birthday falls on the first full moon in May and is a fantastic opportunity to witness the most sacred Buddhist festival in all its glory. Buddhists wear white robes and celebrate the occasion through prayers, processions and by decorating the temples with flowers, candles and flags.

Various other festivals take place throughout the year, the most well-known of which is Diwali. This festival of lights sees Hindus adorning their homes and businesses with small oil lamps to guide Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth, into their homes. Across India, Hindus leave their doors and windows open for Lakshmi in the hope she will enter and bestow good fortune on them for the year ahead.
