Japan
What better way to celebrate the arrival of Spring, than the traditional Japanese way! March is the perfect month to catch the start of the infamous Cherry Blossom festival, known as Sakura Matsuri. Across Japan, people gather in parks to see the cherry trees in full bloom, and hold extravagant parties to welcome in the new season. The trees bloom at various times throughout February to May, depending on the climate, but Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka are the best places to head to this month. In Toyko, Ueno Park is home to more than a thousand Yoshino cherry trees, which are illuminated especially for the festival by 1500 lanterns, casting a pink glow over the thousands of visitors who arrive for the celebration.
With a vibrant culture and plenty of sights to visit, it’s no wonder Japan is such a popular destination with EFL teachers. Even our Trainer of the Month Sally Wilson has the country on her list of future destinations!
